A Gallery of Oregon Covered Bridges is
so big, it is broken into 3 pages. Here are 53 covered bridges...49
of which are historic. Because of their unique design elements,
we chose to represent these marvels as sketches...thanks to
www.Akvis.com a photo to sketch conversion
software. Although all alike, they are NOTHING alike.
Historically, the covered bridge was needed to protect the wooden timbers that spanned the river. A covered bridge could weather the elements 80 or more years while an uncovered one, only 10. It is no surprise that rainy Oregon had more than 300 bridges at one time.
There were
14000 bridges across the United States 150 years ago...less than 900 remain
today. Visit a covered bridge and you'll find a photographer from
somewhere in the world who has come to see the melding of form and function.

Be sure and jot down the latitude/longitude of our covered bridge picture.
