There are about 9 million people in
Los Angeles, 3 million people in San Diego and less than 1 million in
San Francisco. Clearly warm weather is a human magnet.
San Francisco's
Golden Gate (connecting the San Francisco Bay to the Pacific Ocean)
has resonated with all peoples who have used this unique strait.
The Golden Gate Bridge, built in 1937,
is known as one of the world's most beautiful bridges and is on the
list of America's Favorite Architecture.
Los Angeles is
stunning by night and rich in
culture and Los Angeles history. The
La Brea Tarpits, symbolized in Hancock Park, honor
the animals surprised by the asphalt seeping up from the ground... a process
that has continued for thousands of years providing ample fodder for modern
research.
Mulholland Drive, made famous by being home
to many movie stars, is a winding road following the ridgeline of the
Santa Monica Mountains. The Palos Verdes Drive leads to the
still functioning Point Vincente Lighthouse.
Short distance for a car...giant distance for the mind.
San Diego takes
a person through a range of emotions, too.
Sea World attracts visitors to marvel at Shamu; there is the opulence
of the Coronado Hotel...the massive size of San Diego's commercial
port.
